Neil Mitchell is calling on the South East Cricket Association to bend a “stupid” rule barring a 12-year-old and his team from playing in an under-14s cricket final.

Twelve-year-old Ieuan Hill missed part of the cricket season while recovering from having a brain tumour removed.

He returned to play for Brighton United last week — with his neurosurgeon’s permission — and the team won to progress to this week’s final.

But now the team has been kicked out over South East Cricket Association decision which Neil Mitchell thinks is “very wrong”.

“What the hell – this is kids’ sport!,” the 3AW Mornings host said.
