The minister for early childhood education says it’s “never too early” for children to start learning a second language.

3AW Drive listeners were split over the issue on Tuesday.

An idea has been floated for kindergarten kids – aged as young as 3 and 4 – to start learning a language other than English.

Some believe it’s too young, given they’re still learning the basics of English.

“It’s never too early for children to start learning another language,” she said.
