New Australian dinosaur discovery unveiled in Queensland

A new species of dinosaur has been unveiled, 10 years after the first fossil bones were found. 

A grazier from the Age of Dinosaurs Museum stumbled across a piece of history during a sheep muster in Queensland in 2005.

It took over a decade to isolate the bones from layers of rock in the earth.

The discoverer, David Elliott, told Ross and John he could tell he had stumbled on more than just rocks.

‘They had little knobbly ends, little dog-bone ends, and I was really excited,’ he said.

The fossils are 95 million years old, and the dinosaur has been named Savannasaurus elliottorum in honour of its discoverer.
