New documentary to reveal the truth behind Ned Kelly

A new documentary will reveal the truth behind Ned Kelly.

Veteran current affairs reporter Mike Munro has spent more than two years putting together Lawless – The Real Bushrangers, a four-part documentary that digs deeper into the history of the bushrangers than ever before.

Mr Munro told Denis Walter it’s one of the highlights of his 35-year career.

He said he was shocked by some of the information he uncovered about Ned Kelly.

“I didn’t realise he was going to try to derail a train at one stage,” Mr Munro said.

“He took out the train tracks leading into Glenrowan, with a train coming in with 24 people: policemen, journalists, and civilians

“Ned Kelly is going to come out of this as an absolute clear-eyed killer.”

Lawless – The Real Bushrangers begins on Tuesday 24 October at 8.30pm on Foxtel’s History channel.
