A new Ipsos poll has revealed that sixty-four percent of Australians believe it is time to start taxing religion.

Tom Elliott spoke with Brian Morris, director of Plain Reason, who said he was not at all surprised by the result and that the number was continuously growing.

Mr Morris said the figure was building all the time and a major contributing factor were scandals within the Catholic church.

‘Bear in mind the reason they’re all tax free is simply based on that very old tradition that they’re advancing religion,’ Mr Morris explained.

‘The truth is the majority of Australians now are religion neutral.’
