New Labrador pup for heartbroken Poowong family

Imagine losing everything in a house fire.

Now imagine later finding out your beloved dog also perished in the blaze.

Heartbreaking.

And that’s exactly what happened to the Elliott family in Poowong, South Gippsland, on Tuesday.

Emma, Justin and two children – Lachlan, 12, and Hannah, 11 – lost their home and beloved dog Evie, a black Labrador.

‘The kids aren’t coping. Hannah called (Evie) her little sister,’ family friend Laura told Neil Mitchell.

Laura suggested the new puppy just might lift their spirits.

‘I think it might give them something to look forward to. A pet. Something to love.’

So Neil Mitchell put the word out and – as always – the 3AW community responded.
