New licence plate technology to help nail those with unpaid driving fines

Got an unpaid driving fine? You’re officially on notice.

The sheriff’s office is now able to scan more number plates than ever.

Their vehicles across the state are being fitted with licence plate recognition technology capable of scanning about 2500 number plates every hour.

Victoria’s Sheriff Brendan Facey told 3AW Breakfast it would likely see an increase in revenue for the government.

‘It’s five times better than what we had,’ he explained.
