New Melbourne advocacy group’s doubts over Suburban Rail Loop

A new advocacy group has weighed in on the current debate over the $30 billion Suburban Rail Loop, urging government leaders not to forgot other major infrastructure projects.

Two powerful Melbourne advocacy bodies – The Committee for Melbourne and the Melbourne Chamber of Commerce – have merged and come together to form a united voice on key issues across the city.

Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Paul Guerra and Committee for Melbourne chair Scott Tanner joined 3AW Breakfast in the studio, with Mr Tanner conceding the divisive Suburban Rail Loop plan was difficult to make a case for.

“The Suburban Rail Loop is a very big bill and we have other things that also need money,” Mr Tanner told Ross and Russ.

“We need to prioritise across those investments. It’s a difficult business case to stack up.”
