New report reveals staggering stat about the average Aussie diet

Tom Elliott

A new CSIRO ‘Healthy Diet Score’ report has found most Australians don’t know how to eat properly.

CSIRO Research scientist and co-author of the report, Dr Gilly Hendrie, says junk foods cause people to have more daily servings of food every day.

“600 kilojoules is one serve so that’s a couple of biscuits … when we start having things like takeaway, the number of serves every day creeps up pretty quickly, and we’re having two or three times more than recommended,” she told Neil Mitchell.
