From today, young drivers in regional Victoria are being offered $5000 to ditch their old car and replace it with a “safer” vehicle.

The state government subsidy, being offered to those aged between 18-25 in the country, is part of the Unsafe2safe program.

Geoff Gwilym, CEO of the Victorian Automotive Chamber of Commerce, told 3AW it was a great initiative, but should go even further.
