New trial to investigate psychedelic compound’s effect on concussion symptoms
Monash University is about to start a clinical trial to investigate whether the active compound in magic mushrooms, psilocybin, can treat concussion symptoms.
The Alfred hospital neurologist Professor Terence O’Brien told 3AW Breakfast hosts Ross and Russel early work had been encouraging.

“[Our studies] have shown that it has a variety of benefits to help brain recovery after brain injury in experimental models,” Professor O’Brien said.
