On the eve of his Wimbledon quarter-final showdown, Nick Kyrgios is facing court over allegations that he assaulted of his former girlfriend Chiara Passari.

ACT Police have confirmed the tennis star has been summonsed to front the ACT Magistrates’ Court on August 2.

The 27-year-old remains scheduled to play Chilean Cristian Garen tonight.

Kyrgios was seen on the practice courts moments after the news broke.

9News reporter at Wimbledon, Tony Jones, says the British media “isn’t a huge rap for Nick Kyrgios”, but “the people absolutely love him”.

“They love the larrikin side of him, but given the developments overnight … I think that’s going to be tested as well,” he told Heidi Murphy, filling in for Neil Mitchell.

Jones says he’d be surprised if the unfolding events don’t impact Kyrgios’ performance tonight.

“Today when he walked out of that room … he looked a broken man. He looked absolutely shattered.”
