Nick Malceski retires due to injury

Nick Malceski has retired.

The Gold Coast Suns announced on Thursday the former Sydney star had played his last AFL game.

He’ll stay with the Suns as an assistant coach.

‘I was hoping to play out my contract with the Suns in 2017, but as many of you would know, I’ve had on-going knee issues for a while now and to be honest, I couldn’t go on,’ Malceski said.

He played a starring role in Sydney’s 2012 premiership.
