Nine considering all female line-up after dumping Karl Stefanovic

An all female panel on The Today Show is being considered by the Nine Network, to provide a point of difference to Seven’s Sunrise.

Entertainment reporter Peter Ford told Kate and Quarters Nine are considering a number of options for Karl Stefanovic’s replacement.

“As for a replacement they are looking very favourably at Brenton Ragless who is currently filling in,” Pete said.

“He’s a family man, he’s a firefighter, he goes to church and he wears deodorant, he will either get that or the weekend show.

“They’re still tossing up between that and an all female line-up hosting the show as a real point of difference to Sunrise.”

“What an extraordinary downfall,” Pete said referring to Stefanovic.

“Here he was, the golden boy of TV, and Karl is no more or less talented now than he was two years ago but other factors have come into play.

“She (Stefanovic’s ex-wife Cassandra Thorburn) has now signed up to do Dancing with the Stars next year, every week she’s going to be on TV telling another sob story and that’s going to make it impossible for Karl to claw his way back into public favour with the female audience.”

US morning show Today went with two female hosts after long time presenter Matt Lauer was sacked following allegations of his inappropriate sexual behavior towards a colleague.
