The incident occurred in Toronto while many workers were out for their lunch break.

Cabinet ministers from the G7 countries are gathered in Toronto to discuss a range of international issues in the lead-up to the G7 meeting near Quebec City in June.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he is seeking a briefing from authorities on what has happened.

“Our thoughts are with all those affected by the terrible incident at Yonge and Finch in Toronto,” he tweeted a short time ago.

“Thank you to the first responders working at the scene – we’re monitoring the situation closely.”
