‘No need to be scared’ by indigenous treaty
Victoria’s Treaty Advancement Commissioner says people “don’t need to be scared” by the historic bill that passed state parliament on Thursday night.
It will establish a new legal framework to negotiate a treaty with indigenous Victorians.
Jill Gallagher told Neil Mitchell she “understood” people’s concerns about what that might bring.
“What I can say is that private property is not on the agenda,” she said.
“People don’t need to be scared.”
