North Richmond labelled ‘Disneyland for drug users’ amid latest safety concerns

Ross and Russ

North Richmond has been described as “Disneyland for drug users” amid reports a major state agency is moving out of the area.

The Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission is set to exit its Shelley Street office as a result of staff being abused by users of the nearby safe injecting facility.

City of Yarra mayor Stephen Jolly said everything about the area was geared towards drug takers.

“It’s like Disneyland for drug users,” he told Ross and Russ.

“You can get there by train or tram, there’s plenty of people that will sell you the drugs…and there’s even a supervised injecting facility.”
