Northern Rivers council calls for ‘pause’ on donations after overwhelming influx

Tom Elliott

People wanting to help out those impacted by the floods in Northern NSW are being urged not to send donated items.

Director of community service delivery at Richmond Valley Council, which takes in the areas surrounding Lismore, told Neil Mitchell the region needs to “put a pause on donations”.

“We’ve actually exhausted all of our storage options at present,” she said.

“Unfortunately so many places are still wet and muddy.”

Ms Jones urged people to donate gift cards or specifically requested items at givit.org.au
