‘Not fair’: Farmer opens up on new levy and wild conditions in his local town

Long-time farmer, Graham Puckle, has opened up on the wild conditions in his drought-stricken local town of Hopetoun in rural Victoria, as well as the new emergency services levy.
Puckle has been a farmer for 50 years, and told Tom Elliott the scene in Hopetoun on Monday was something he hadn’t seen in a long time.
And he’s fired up over how the state government has treated those impacted by the new levy.

“Get out of our pockets … just keep it equal,” Mr Puckle said.
“I accept we’ve got to pay tax … but spread it over the community.
“Why just belt us around the ears all the time?”
