‘Not fit for purpose’ Melbourne Airport infrastructure buckles

Melbourne Airport’s archaic passport control and terminal infrastructure are at breaking point amid the winter school holiday traffic.

Multiple callers to 3AW reported long wait times on Friday, which have since been confirmed by an airport spokesperson.

“Some of the infrastructure we have really isn’t fit for purpose,” spokesperson Andrew Lund told Tony Jones.

“We have so many people coming through, we do need more border force processing infrastructure as well as more room.”
