Tom Elliott has questioned the Myki ticketing system, and why it will take until 2028 for the full upgrade to be completed.

The 3AW Mornings host read out a press release from the state government from May 2023, announcing a plan to allow travellers to tap-and-go with their smartphones, debit and travel cards.

“It is not a secret, it is not rocket science,” he said.

“Myki, the gifts that keeps on giving.”

President of the Public Transport Users Association, Tony Morton, said the delay to the upgraded system is “disappointing”.

“It’s a difficult process,” Mr Morton told Ross and Russ.
