A 3AW listener has shared an emotional plea to the Prime Minister after Tennis Australia boss Craig Tiley confirmed Novak Djokovic wants to return to Melbourne for the 2023 Australian Open.

Djokovic had his visa cancelled and was deported on “health and good order grounds” last year.

Under the ruling, he cannot obtain a visa for three years after losing an appeal, but it’s believed the federal government may be open to granting a visa so he can play in the Australian Open next year.

John called Neil Mitchell to share an emotional plea to Anthony Albanese.

“People suffered during this pandemic and my wife died during it, and it’s not fair for someone like him to get special treatment just because he’s a good tennis player,” he said.
