Notorious Melbourne Mafia figure guilty of extortion, faces deportation to Italy

One of the state’s most notorious Mafia figures will likely face deportation to Italy after being found guilty of extortion, drug and weapons offences. 

38-year-old Rocco Arico was arrested in March 2015 after police found a semi-automatic pistol and a drug hidden in the seat of his motor scooter.

A jury in the County Court found Arico guilty on Thursday, having heard evidence from a longtime friend turned police informant during Arico’s trial in November.
