Novak Djokovic confirms legal bid to play in Australian Open
Novak Djokovic has confirmed reports his lawyers have been in discussions with the federal government in a bid to play in the Australian Open.
It’s widely expected the immigration minister will overturn the three-year ban handed to the tennis great after he was deported earlier this year over his COVID vaccination status.
The news was met with a passionate reaction, albeit mixed, on 3AW Mornings.

Speaking at the ATP Tour finals, Djokovic says the process is underway.
“Nothing official yet, we are waiting,” the nine-time Australian Open champion said.
“They are communicating with the government of Australia.”
