NRL great Wally Lewis says MCG will host an NRL Grand Final
Queensland rugby league legend Wally Lewis has backed the MCG to host an NRL Grand Final.
The Olympic stadium will be redeveloped from 2019 to 2022, meaning the NRL will have to look for a temporary home for its season deciders.
Lewis told Nick McCallum Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane will be the first choice, but the MCG will get at least one.
‘It cannot be ignored, simply because of the increased capacity,’ he said.
Lewis coached the Queensland Origin team at the MCG, and said it was a rare opportunity.
‘The MCG – it’s legendary,’ he said.
‘I’m sure the rugby league public, and especially the players, will enjoy it.’
