Number one draft pick embracing media hype ahead of first season at West Coast

New West Coast midfielder Harley Reid says he’s been humbled by the constant media attention around him this season.

Reid was selected by West Coast with the opening selection of this year’s draft, following months of speculation after his glittering season with Murray Bushrangers and Vic Country.

He said the hype that’s surrounded his performances at underage level this year is fueling him to perform for his new club.

“(The media attention) wasn’t something that really got to me,” he told Matt Granland, filling in for Sam McClure on Wide World of Sports.

“You see all the stuff in the media and it motivates you to show why you should be number one.”
