A nurse has been mowed down by a driver at the COVID-19 testing site in Collingwood.

A white Holden station wagon allegedly collided with the testing site worker on the corner of Easey and Hoddle streets at about 9.25am.

The car stopped briefly before doing a U-turn and driving away.

The testing site worker, a man aged in his 50s, has been taken to hospital in a stable condition with upper and lower body injuries.

Ryan, who witnessed the disturbing incident, said onlookers were horrified.

“A car has kind of pulled up, then reversed … then lined up the nurse,” he told Dee Dee.

“They had to run up onto the curb to do it.”

Police have located the white Holden station wagon and arrested the male driver at an address in Leicester Street, Carlton.

The man is currently assisting police with their enquiries.

It’s believed witnesses saw the vehicle driving erratically near the CBD.
