VIDEO: Offenders use excavator in attempt to steal ATM near Echuca
Offenders have attempted to remove an ATM using an earth mover from a Bendigo Bank branch near Echuca overnight.
Police say the excavator was used to steal the parts of an ATM which contain cash in Tongala.
The incident occurred at the bank on Mangan Street shortly before 3am.
The front of the business has sustained significant damage as a result.
The two men stole a number of cash boxes to an unknown value before activating the alarm and fleeing.
The excavator was abandoned by the pair at the scene.
It is believed the excavator, along with a truck located behind the bank, was stolen from an address on Apollo Drive, Shepparton about 1.15am.
Witnesses have reported seeing a white duel cab and dark grey wagon near the front of the bank about a short time before police were called.
Investigators believe both vehicles are linked to the incident.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
