A police officer has sustained serious injuries, after he was allegedly struck by a passing car in Mount Duneed this afternoon.

Dale told Tom Elliott he was travelling back from Torquay to Geelong when he saw the crash site.

“Between McCanns Road and Lower Duneed Road,” Dale said.

“There’s at least a dozen emergency services of all kinds.

“It looks like a blue car, that was very badly damaged, is on the side of the highway.”

Police say the member was standing next to a stationary marked police vehicle on the Surf Coast Highway, when a vehicle allegedly crashed into his car shortly after 1pm.

He sustained serious injuries as a result and has been taken to hospital.
