Oil and gas industry boss calls on ABC to ‘explain’ presence at ‘disturbing’ protest

The boss of the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association (APPEA) has slammed a “disturbing” protest targeting the home of Woodside Energy CEO Meg O’Neill.

Climate activists targeted Ms O’Neill’s Perth home early on Tuesday morning.

APPEA chief executive Samantha McCulloch says it’s “clearly crossing a line”.

“Unfortunately it really reflects an escalation in the tactics we’re seeing used by activist groups in Australia,” she told Neil Mitchell.

An ABC camera crew was also outside the home at the time, and Ms McCulloch says the public broadcaster has questions to answer.

“I think it would be appropriate for the ABC to explain how they came to be at the protest.”
