Open Garden at The Melbourne Club

Article image for Open Garden at The Melbourne Club

The Melbourne Club is throwing open its doors to welcome the public into its tranquil walled garden – a rare surviving example of a nineteenth-century city garden, first established in the 1860s.

Plantings bordering the lawn under these significant towering trees are predominantly green and white, with a preference for scented plants and species that perform well in all seasons and tolerate the shade cast by the trees and surrounding tall buildings.

Horticulturist and Arborist John Fordham will give a garden tour and talk at 11am and 2pm.

The Melbourne Club will hold its Open Garden event on Sunday 21st February.

10.00am – 4.30pm

36 Collins Street, Melbourne (Enter via Ridgeway Place off Little Collins Street)

Entry price $8 (children U18 free)

Proceeds will benefit The Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute.
