Opposition leader accuses government of lying to Victorians over bail laws

Brad Battin has accused the Allan government of lying to Victorians over the state’s bail laws reforms, which were tabled in Parliament on Tuesday afternoon.

The state opposition leader told Jacqui Felgate the Premier’s initial proposal had been scaled back, saying she was misleading Victorians.

“She misled the whole community when she said she has the toughest bail laws in the country,” he said on 3AW Drive.

“Not only are they not the toughest bail laws in the country, they are not even as tough as they originally were they were (implemented) in March 2023.”
