Owners of iconic Melbourne beach boxes slapped with shock new land tax

Owners of beach boxes in Brighton are set to become the latest properties to have their tax bills hiked.

Despite property on the beach being owned by the local council, owners are facing bills of up to $5,000.

“How do we have a land tax being delivered to people who don’t even own the land,” Brighton MP James Newbury told 3AW Drive.
