Parents left ‘confused’ after ‘shocking’ stories of children’s school supplies being withheld come to light

Jacqui Felgate has been told children are being penalised at school after their parents opted not to pay voluntary fees.

The 3AW Drive host detailed the “shocking” stories she’s been told, where the likes of school supplies and camps have been withheld for the students whose parents didn’t pay what they believed was a non-essential fee.

Rachel, whose children were caught up in the issue, said their school changed their policies this year to omit school supplies for students whose parents didn’t pay the fee.

“It’s left a lot of us confused,” she told Jacqui Felgate.

“(My kids) were quite stressed, our youngest is six and she was actually up multiple times throughout the night begging me reminding me to make the payment.”
