Parents are being urged to talk openly about drugs with their teenage children, with warnings against expressing “extreme” views.

Paul Dillon, from Drug and Alcohol Research Training Australia, told 3AW parents who claim drugs are “everywhere” or that “they’ll die if they do them” are misinforming their children.

He said it’s counter-productive.
