Parking hogs are being warned to obey time restrictions this Christmas.

Many parking spots are fitted with sensors to catch drivers who overstay the time allowed in that particular spot.

But drivers are reportedly cheating the system.

With parking spots at a premium at this time of year, many drivers have taken to pulling out of their spot momentarily, before driving straight back in.

If this sounds familiar – be warned that it is illegal.

Monash Mayor Rebecca Paterson told Tony Jones the fine is $78.

Ms Paterson said drivers should give each other a fair go.
