A passenger train has derailed after a collision with a truck in Goornong near Bendigo.

Emergency services were called to the collision on the Midland Highway near Bendigo-Murchison Road just after 8am.

It’s believed the train clipped the back of the truck.

The truck driver has been airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious but stable condition, while the train driver sustained minor injuries.

There were about 40 passengers on board the train at the time of the collision. None were injured.

V/Line CEO Matt Carrick says train services will be impacted for a few days.

“We anticipate we’ll probably have to run coach services over the next couple of days between Bendigo and Echuca,” he told Dee Dee.

The exact circumstances of the collision are unknown and the investigation is ongoing.
