Australian tennis great Pat Cash says Tennis Australia isn’t doing enough to support Nick Kyrgios.

Cash told 3AW Mornings he ‘wouldn’t be surprised’ if Australia’s most promising tennis talent walked away from the game.

Kyrgios was handed an eight-week ban by the ATP on Monday for his outburst at the Shanghai Masters.

There are concerns for his mental state.

Cash, one of Australia’s greatest players, said he’d continually pushed for more to be done in supporting young players with the mental strain of professional sport.

‘It should be as mandatory as hitting forehands and doing stretching before and after a practice session ? it really should be,’ Cash told Neil Mitchell.

‘I’ve said this for a couple of years, I’ve talked to Tennis Australia about it and nothing’s been done.

‘Hopefully this highlights that something really needs to be done.’
