Patrick Dangerfield takes out 3AW’s Player of the Year for 2016
Patrick Dangerfield has taken out 3AW’s Player of the Season for 2016.
The Geelong recruit racked up 56 votes, including a staggering nine maximum 5-vote games, to finish 11 votes clear of Sydney’s Dan Hannebery.
Dangerfield has been the face of the club since his high-profile move from Adelaide last season, and he said no one can use extra media attention as an excuse for poor performance.
‘It’s something I’ve been a bit annoyed about when players have used it as an excuse,’ he told 3AW Football on Saturday.
‘To be brutally honest, it’s a load of crap.’
Dangerfield said players are only going to have to make more media appearances with each passing year and they should get used it.
‘If you can’t handle it, the competition will pass you by,’ he said.
