The boss of Victoria’s peak tourism body has labelled a levy on short-stay accommodation a “disastrous” policy for the state.

Cabinet is expected to consider a statewide levy on short-stay accommodation this week in a bid to address Victoria’s housing shortage.

Victorian Tourism Industry Council CEO Felicia Mariani told Jimmy Bartel and Mark Allen, filling in for Ross and Russel, the policy “will not do one thing to deter people from putting their property on a short-stay platform”.
