Concerns have been raised about a new car ad and its effects on road safety.

Ford recently unveiled their new advertisement for their new Ranger Raptor, which shows the new car airborne and clocking high speeds of as much as 200km/h.

Pedestrian Council of Australia Chairman Harold Scruby said the new ad “worried” the motor industry and voiced concerns as to whether it was sending the wrong message.

“The problem is international ads have been allowed on our TVs,” he said.

“They bring (the ads) in, they know it takes four weeks for a complaint to be reviewed and they know within three weeks the campaign is over.

“Why does it go to air in the first place?”
