Persistent power outages forcing Acland St shops to close

Shop owners on a busy St Kilda strip have been forced to close after persistent power outages.

Up to 22 Acland St stores have had power troubles for the last four days.

Acland Street Traders Association treasurer Harry Zaitman said one store had lost up to $30,000 in sales, as well as equipment and stock.

But he said the most disappointing part was the conduct of the electricity provider in response.
