Person dies after being found on fire at Rye

A person has died after being found on fire at Rye.

A passerby made the disturbing discovery near the intersection of Peter and Betty Streets shortly after 7am on Monday, helping to extinguish the flames.

Emergency crews arrived shortly after but the person died at the scene.

They are yet to be identified.

Police say the circumstances of the incident are still be determined its not yet known if it is suspicious.
