The personal data of more than 112,000 customers of a Melbourne-based travel agency has been exposed in a data breach.

Data including passport images, travel visas and partial credit card numbers was leaked when a non-password protected database at travel agency Inspiring Vacations was unintentionally exposed online in November last year.

Cyber security expert Ches Rafferty says it’s yet another case of Australian companies failing to adequately secure sensitive customer information.

“What is it going to take in Australia for us to realise that we’re under a sustained attack right now because we’re making it so easy — why wouldn’t you come after Australian businesses?” he told Tony Jones on 3AW Mornings.
