The opposition has announced plans to crack down on youth crime with a proposed bill to allow videos depicting crimes to be taken down.

Opposition leader, Peter Dutton, says individuals uploading videos depicting crimes committed are doing so to gain notoriety with their peers.

“We want to work closely with the government … because we want to give the safety commissioner the power to pull the content down,” he told Jacqui Felgate.

He also says the media won’t be committing any offences if they post these videos, but urges them not to.

“All I’m saying is I think you end up giving these kids the notoriety they want,” he said.
