Peter Ford brings us the reaction to Will Smith’s shocking Oscars attack

The “hypocrisy” of Hollywood is on full display after Will Smith’s shocking attack on Chris Rock at the Oscars, says entertainment reporter Peter Ford.

Ford said it sent a “very disturbing message” that Smith wasn’t evicted from the ceremony.

Ford told Tom Elliott many people he’d spoken with in the aftermath had expressed shock and condemned Smith’s actions, but on the proviso they weren’t quoted.

“As always, gutless Hollywood doesn’t want actually stand up for something,” he said.

“They’re very happy to join in on certain causes and take a stand, but when something is right on their front door step where they can take a stand and say it’s completely unacceptable and we as an industry should be appalled by that … nobody wants to do it.”
