Neil Mitchell spoke to Councillor for the City of Yarra Stephen Jolly about the record breaking dog petition that has had both dog lovers and passionate pub goers up in arms.

The change.org petition has over 11,000 signatures in three days supporting  pubs allowing our furry friends into dog friendly beer gardens.

“It’s an area that the council don’t need to get involved with,” Councillor Jolly said.

The man behind the petition Samuel Roundtree told Neil Mitchell that the whole issue isn’t around allowing dogs into every pub in the city, as he wouldn’t allow dogs into 90 per cent of pubs in the city as most proprietors don’t want dogs in their pubs, but they only want access to pubs who have previously accepted dogs.

“I had one person comment saying I don’t want a dog making my parma, but they’re certainly not in the kitchen and without opposable thumbs there’s no risk of that” Samuel explained.
