Pharmacists are warning rapid antigen tests are still hard to find as a free test scheme launches across the country.

Pensioners, veterans and low income earners are now able to claim up to 10 free rapid COVID-19 tests.

Pharmacists are able to give up to five tests to concession card holders free of charge per month, with a maximum of 10 free tests provided between now and April.

But the Pharmacy Guild has warned supply is still an issue.

Mario Tascone, CEO Chemist Warehouse, said 100,000 packs of five tests would be made available for those groups.

But he’s unsure how long they’ll last.

“That’s the million dollar question,” he said.

He said demand for rapid tests was unprecedented.

Mr Tascone also addressed concerns about mask shortages.
