A phone call from Essendon captain Brendon Goddard may have sunk Travis Cloke and his controversial glove, says Sam McClure.

Scoop said on 3AW the Bombers’ skipper had been sent the same glove by Nike but was told he couldn’t wear it.

He rang officials for clarification when he saw the Collingwood forward wearing the glove against GWS.

‘He was hoping it wasn’t banned and he could start wearing it,’ Scoop explained on 3AW.

As it turned out, his initial mail was right – he couldn’t.

That eventually led to Cloke and Collingwood being fined $1500.
