Can you figure out what is going on in this photo?

Is the brown snake eating the black snake? Has the black snake then started eating its way out of the brown snake?

Could the black snake have slithered into the dead brown snake?

A woman sent the image via Facebook to Australia Zoo, asking if the experts could shed any light.

She said picture was taken a few weeks ago Griffith, New South Wales. She also said both snakes were dead, and she thought they had both been run over.

Australia Zoo responded: ‘Wow! This is certainly unusual and we have not seen this before. We can’t imagine a black snake climbing into another snake but this entire situation is very strange. We would still suggest that the brown one was eating the black but we will never know for sure.’
